About the ministry

Called to love, sent to serve

We are a Christ-centered ministry reaching families in crisis and communities in need with practical help and lasting hope.

Our story

How it all began

Nicolas Home Ministry was born from one man's love for his family and for those in need.

Nicolas “Papang” Abines raised his grandchildren to value education, to help the needy and to fear God. After he went home to the Lord in 1994, his grandchildren chose to carry his example forward and founded Nicolas Home Ministry in his honor.

Today, Nicolas Home Ministry carries his work forward through volunteers, partner churches and generous friends: feeding children, sending students to school, bringing doctors to remote barangays, and standing with families when disaster strikes. Our prayer is to reach more communities with the same open-hearted love.

Our founder's legacy

Nicolas “Papang” Abines

A father to his family, and through this ministry, a father to many.

Lovingly called “Papang,” which means father, Nicolas Abines faced many struggles in life, yet he never stopped dreaming or learning from hardship. With a big heart, he raised his grandchildren and taught them to value education, to help those in need, and above all, to be God-fearing.

He saw his grandchildren through school and touched countless lives before he was reunited with his Creator on February 8, 1994, at the age of 83. His grandchildren founded Nicolas Home Ministry to continue what Papang started: helping poor children and youth through education, and molding them morally and spiritually through God's Word.

Nicolas was a father to his son, a father to his grandchildren, a father to his descendants, and through Nicolas Home Ministry Inc., he will be a father to everyone.

Life is difficult, but it is never a reason to stop dreaming and working toward success. That is how Nicolas Abines lived his life. He went through many struggles, yet he always managed to stand up and learn from every experience.

Nicolas Abines, called “Papang” by many, which means father, had a big heart for everybody. He took on the responsibility of caring for his grandchildren and taught them life's important lessons: to value education, to extend help to the needy, and most of all, to be God-fearing. Driven by his kind heart, he raised his grandchildren well and encouraged them to pursue their education despite the hardships they faced, and to dream of a better life in the future. He lived his life to the fullest, with the integrity to see his grandchildren finish their education, and he touched so many lives. He was reunited with his Creator on February 8, 1994, at the age of 83, but that did not end his dedication to helping others.

Through the initiative of his grandchildren, Nicolas Home Ministry was established to continue what “Papang” started: to extend a hand to the poor, especially children and youth, by motivating them toward education and molding them morally and spiritually through the guidance of God's Word.

What we believe

We believe that whatever we do for the least of these, we do for Christ (Matthew 25:35โ€“40). Guided by God's Word, we believe that education, compassion and faith can break the cycle of poverty and raise children who love God and serve their families and communities.

Be the hands and feet of Christ.

Partner, volunteer or give, and help us reach one more family in need.
